How to take care of Normal and Combination Skin
What causes combination skin?
Combination skin is a common skin type where you have both oily and dry area on your facial skin. Most commonly, areas like forehead and nose are oily (T-zone) and the cheeks are dry.
There is no specific cause for combination skin and it is linked to genetics, some environmental factors and hormonal changes.
As we age, skin may become drier and less oily as it reacts to hormonal changes. Other hormone-driven factors that can cause changes in skin are periods and contraceptives.
How does combination skin look
A combination of oily and dry skin can appear in different ways and in different amounts.
Skin which present a bit more oil is shiny with larger looking pores and acne while skin with a bit more dryness looks tight, rough, flaking with redness.
You should remember that the routine care for normal and combination skin must treat specific areas of skin with products made for it. In general, go for gentle products that create more balanced skin and can moisturize dry areas without creating more oiliness.
For normal and combination skin the routine skin care is as follows:
Cleanser to remove any buildup that occurs overnight.
Toner (alcohol free) to remove oil that the cleanser didn’t and balances skin’s pH levels
Serum to protect, hydrate and nourish your skin. It’s best to opt for a serum with hyaluronic acid.
